Requesting a book or other physical item
The FASTEST way to obtain a book, film, or microform via Interlibrary Loan :
Use WorldCat and
...
- Go to the WorldCat database and search for a title.
- Once you identify the book/film/microform you want from the search results, click on the title. A Detailed Record page will appear. If Brandeis owns the item, you will see BRANDEIS UNIV LIBR. next to the title.
- If Brandeis does not own the item, click on the
button and then the Request through Interlibrary Loan link - Log into your ILL account. Note that all of the information for
the item you are requesting--author, title, etc.--will automatically
import into the ILL request form. Click Submit.
Helpful tips before you submit:
- Copy and paste the OCLC Accession number from the WorldCat record into the OCLC Accession Number field on the request form. This number tells us EXACTLY what you need, and speeds up processing.
- Add text in the NOTES field if you have any additional information on your request.
You will receive an email when it arrives!
IMPORTANT: If you are requesting a film or microform, or if you are requesting material owned by Brandeis but which is checked out, missing, lost, or on Reserve (senior honors thesis students and graduate students may request items on Reserve), please tell us so in the NOTES field on the request form before submitting the request.
