- Statistical Abstract of the U.S.
Widely known & providing footnotes and links for more detailed statistics. Wide variety. 1878 to 2012, when it was discontinued. However, still very valuable: To access the most current data, please refer to the organizations cited in the source notes for each table of the Statistical Abstract.
- Census Bureau's A-Z List
Simple alphabetical list by subject leads to many statistical resources.
- Google Data & Graphs
Google's new, developing service with data available for visual exploration. Type in Google "unemployment rate" or "population" followed by a state or county. You will get the current data immediately with an interactive chart.
- Google Data & Graphs Video
51 second video from YouTube.
- Gapminder World
Shows the world's most important trends.
Collection of world maps, where territories are re-sized on each map according to the subject of interest(e.g., health service quality, hospital beds)
- Historical Statistics of the United States
Dates of coverage vary, but often from colonial times through the late 1990s.
- Economic Report of the President
Appendix contains many historical time series of economic statistics.
One Stop shopping for federal statistics. Points you to 100 U.S. federal agencies that collect statistics on various aspects of the country. Provides many useful approaches for finding data.
- Harvard University Libraries Catalog
Harvard University owns statistical sources for many countries, often with information for earlier years. Use the subdivision "statistics" under specific subjects or geographic areas, e.g., Older people -- United States -- Statistics; Latin America -- Statistics
- Census Bureau's International Statistical Agencies
Focus is foreign national government statistical agencies for various countries. Statistics sought may be available at the web site. Otherwise, use the contact information for advice.
