Reserve Borrowing Policies

Unlike materials from the stacks, reserve materials have the following restrictions:

  • Loan periods for reserve materials are:
  • 2 hour loans for books (library-owned and personal).
  • 4 hour loans for videos and audio materials (library-owned and personal).
  • Reserve materials cannot be renewed. We ask students to wait 15 minutes to a half hour before trying to check out an item for a second time.
  • Students may only check out one reserve item at a time.
  • Reserve items can only be used in the library.

  • Library-owned books may be taken out of the library within 2 hours of closing. They must be returned when the library opens the following morning (Monday through Friday by 8:30am; Saturday & Sunday by 10:30am).
  • Personal items cannot leave the library.

Fines are $1.00 per hour up to $100.00. Please hand returns to a desk worker to ensure item is checked into system. If you would like to dispute a reserve fine, you may contact us at reserve@brandeis.edu.
