Physical Reserves: Books, Videos and Audio
We accept materials such as books, videos, and audio CDs for reserve.
We will put 1 copy of an item on reserve per 15-20 students.
Typically, we will not place reference and other non-circulating material (such as journals) on physical reserve as they do not circulate outside of the library and will be available to your students on the shelf.
We cannot put journal articles or book chapters on physical reserve. These items should be uploaded or linked to your LATTE course.
If an item is available online through an LTS electronic resource, we will not place the library's physical copy on reserve.
Personal items can be placed on reserve but cannot be protected from the wear and tear of heavy use. Personal copies must be marked and barcoded for use with our circulation system. The library cannot assume liability for personal copies which are stolen or damaged. Personal items will be returned to the instructor via intercampus mail at the end of the semester unless other arrangements are made in advance.
We cannot place on reserve any unauthorized reproduced copy of a book, video or CD. We cannot put books borrowed through Interlibrary Loan on reserve.

Electronic Reserves: E-books, Articles, Chapters, Video and Audio
Articles, chapters, e-books, videos and audio files can be shared with students via LATTE, Brandeis University's online learning environment.
Journal articles and e-books available online to the Brandeis University community can be shared easily with students by linking to the article/e-book within a LATTE course. You can even create a link to specific chapters withint a book. Here are instructions for linking to articles and e-books available through our online resources.
You can upload and store files in your LATTE courses, including articles, chapters and pictures. Here are instructions for working with your files in LATTE. Please take the time to review our copyright guidelines.
Audio (language lessons, music files, etc.) can be digitized and shared with students in your LATTE course. Please contact Research & Instruction Services to request these materials well in advance of the start of the semester.
Instructors may present films from the Brandeis library film collection online as well. Please visit the page LATTE Videos page for more information on this service.
For additional LATTE support, please contact LATTE Help.
Purchase Requests
To request a reserve purchase, send an email to reserve@brandeis.edu. Please include as much information about the item as possible (title, author, ISBN, edition).
The library will make every reasonable effort to accomodate purchase requests for the reserve collection. However, it cannot guarantee in every instance to purchase all items requested for reserve. In general, we will not purchase textbooks for our collection since they are generally costly and often revised on an annual basis.
It is important to submit reserve purchase requests well in advance of the date they are needed in your class.
Please note in your request that the item is for reserve, and for which course, instructor, and semester.
