Primary Text Research Practices
Primary texts are the uninterpreted, textual evidence used by humanities researchers to support their arguments and opinions about their research topic.
- Finding Original Primary Texts: Work with the "real thing" in the University Archives and Special Collections.
- Finding Primary Texts in Electronic Format: This is a rapidly expanding collection as more material is digitized.
- Finding Primary Texts in Microform: Many useful sources may be found only in microfilm (reels) or microfiche (sheets).
- Finding Primary Texts in Print: Including books, published documents, newspapers, and historical magazines and journals.
